Bound vs Loose Wedding Garland: Choosing the Perfect Greenery for Your Reception Tables

Greenery is one of the easiest ways to transform your wedding reception. A beautifully styled wedding table garland adds texture, romance, and elegance to your tablescape. Whether you’re planning a garden wedding, a modern celebration, or a timeless reception, greenery creates a stunning backdrop for your flowers, candles, and décor.

One of the biggest decisions is choosing between bound garland and loose foliage. Both are beautiful. The right choice depends on your style, budget, and how you want to use your florals throughout the day.

Bound Wedding Garland

IMG 5055 201x300 - Bound vs Loose Wedding Garland: Choosing the Perfect Greenery for Your Reception TablesBound garland is handcrafted before your wedding. Each stem is wired and secured into one continuous piece. This process takes time and uses significantly more greenery, making it the premium option.

The result is a full, lush garland with plenty of depth and texture. It creates an elegant, luxurious look that photographs beautifully.

Why choose bound garland?

  • Creates a full, wide, and lush tablescape.
  • Trails beautifully over the ends of tables for a romantic finish.
  • Perfect for wide banquet or harvest tables.
  • Can be lifted and moved without falling apart.
  • Reuse it throughout your wedding day.

One of the biggest advantages of bound garland is its versatility. Many couples use it to line the ceremony aisle before moving it to the reception tables. This allows one investment to create beautiful moments in multiple spaces.

Loose Foliage Table Runner

IMG 5056 201x300 - Bound vs Loose Wedding Garland: Choosing the Perfect Greenery for Your Reception TablesLoose foliage creates a softer, more organic look. Instead of building the garland in advance, our florists style individual stems directly onto your tables during installation.

This design uses less greenery, making the product cost lower. However, it requires careful on-site styling, so installation labour is still an important part of the process.

The finished look feels natural, airy, and effortlessly elegant.

Why choose loose foliage?

  • Uses less greenery than bound garland.
  • Creates a relaxed, garden-inspired style.
  • Offers a lighter, more open tablescape.
  • A great option for couples wanting to maximise their floral budget.

Because the foliage is arranged directly on the table, it cannot be lifted or reused elsewhere during your wedding day.

Which Wedding Garland Is Right for You?

If you love a lush, luxurious look with dramatic trailing greenery, bound garland is the perfect choice. It also offers the flexibility to reuse your greenery from the ceremony to the reception. You can check out a few more ideas here: Martha Stewart Weddings

If you prefer a natural, airy tablescape with a lighter feel, loose foliage is an excellent option. It uses less greenery while still creating a beautiful and elegant design. No matter which style you choose, wedding greenery brings warmth, texture, and timeless beauty to your reception. We’ll help you select the option that perfectly suits your venue, your vision, and your budget. Check out some of our previous work on our Wedding Flowers – Ambience and Decor page!

Tips to planning a Micro Wedding

img 2567 50 305 - Tips to planning a Micro Wedding

We are thrilled to be featured on weddingwire.ca as an expert, spilling tips we have learned through the pandemic for all things micro wedding planning.

Wedding planning is looking quite different these days and flowers are no different! We have had to shift in many ways for weddings and are happy to share with readers what we know and how you can plan for your own mini wedding.

Stay flexible

For Foxgloves, I think the biggest change has been adapting the original floral and decor plans, sometimes to a totally different season—we try to maintain the original look and feel while having to swap out entire lists of seasonally available products for new ones.”

Vendors and venues are working closely with their couples to adapt plans. This past year has been such a challenging one. Couples planning their wedding during this time have switched their dates 2,3,4 and sometimes even 5 times with the ever changing health guidelines!!

Reallocate your budget

We are reallocating the funds from bridesmaids bouquets and table centres into arch florals, backdrops and elaborate table florals for many brides. That said, a few events earlier during Covid when 50-people weddings were still allowed, we actually had to increase table numbers as we were only allowed a maximum of 4 people at a table. When this was happening we were having to stretch budgets.

From flowers to cakes, the typical wedding budget is being reallocated for a micro wedding
